Most often placing a bet on baseball includes betting on the starting pitchers of the game. One thing to keep in mind is that if for any reason the starting pitchers are changed before the game the odds may be adjusted accordingly. When betting on pitchers, there are a variety of ways in which bets can be placed. First of all there is a type of bet called an action. This means that even if the pitchers are switched prior to opening pitch and even if the odds change to any degree, your bet will still be active. If, on the other hand, you want your bet to be place on the actual pitchers that start the game, and there is a switch up prior to that almighty first pitch, then your bet will be voided and any money you wagered will be returned to you.
Some people choose to place their bets on the pitcher of one or the other of the teams. You would not need to know, or even care, who the starting pitcher was for the opposing team. Your bet would ride as long as the pitcher you are betting on started the game. The bet would remain active as long as the pitcher who was supposed to start the game did in fact start. If that pitcher was swapped up, then your wager would be voided and your bet returned to you. Because pitchers are said to take ‘the win’ or ‘the loss,’ it is most common to see baseball bets wagered on pitchers rather than which team wins the game in what inning.
